Who We Are & What We Do

Mission Statement

Everyone wants their account to earn interest.

Just as people routinely monitor their bank balance, Facebook users are checking their notifications for riches in the form of “Likes.”

Before the internet there was no easy way to quantify social approval. Now, however, social media allows us to clinically provide and receive acceptance. From MySpace’s ranking of friends, to Facebook likes, to Twitter favourites and retweets, social media slaps a number on our popularity.

Those of us caught in this web no longer think of photogenic, humorous or poignant experiences as memories to treasure, but as likes in the bank for when we next post on our social media of choice.

Likes In The Bank explores why we need this attention and how we can best get it.

We investigate the psychology behind the human need for acceptance, and how this base instinct copes with the power of social media. We also look at what techniques and practices can get you the attention you need and what you can do with that attention once you’ve got it.

Be sure to like us on Facebook.

Sincerely,

John Gooding, Laura Hanlon, Sophie Harkin, Imogen Champagne & Guy Neville
